An environmental waste processing company, in cooperation with the Philippine Australian Alumni Association, Inc. (PA3i) – Los Baños Chapter, took part in the Clean Up the World Weekend held 3rd Saturday of September 2007.

The whole-day affair was held at the D.L Umali Freedom Park of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños.

The idea of a Clean Up the World (CUW) Weekend, originated in Sydney, Australia in 1993, and is held annually in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme.

This worldwide campaign brings together different community groups, local government units, schools, business organizations, and interested individuals in an activity which aims to support clean up drives and likewise promotes environmental awareness and recycling to the community - a vision that IRI shares.

Hundreds of students and employee volunteers, including Los Baños Mayor Caesar P. Perez and UPLB Chancellor, Dr. Luis Rey Velasco, were present in this worthwhile event.

Mr. Lee Echiverri, Vice President/General Manager of IRI, gave the closing remarks. He shared to the group the recycling processes wherein IRI specializes and encouraged everybody to dispose their electronic wastes (e-wastes) properly.uuu
