Research Prioritization for 2003-2005 The Bureau of Agricultural Research through the National Livestock and Poultry RDE Network is continually welcoming research proposals for funding. The Network has received a total of 37 proposals for 2003 – 2005 funding. These proposals submitted to the Network were initially classified according to the programs being addressed in the National Integrated Research Development Extension Agenda and Program of Livestock and Poultry. The Team Leader with the assistance of the Network’s Core Technical Team and DA-BAR representative will have to consolidate and prioritize these proposals before presentation to the Senior Scientist Advisory Committee which is scheduled this July 2002. |

Network Co-Sponsored 1st APLP Outreach Seminar |

| The Association of Professionals in Livestock Production (APLP) had their 1st Outreach Seminar conducted March 14, 2002 at RIARs Training Center, BIARC, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur. A total of two hundred eighteen (218) participants, mostly livestock and poultry raisers, feed millers, veterinarians, animal scientists, nutritionists, students and staff of DA have attended the seminar. The objective was to educate and enlighten the participants on new developments in the livestock industry. National Beef Congress Held The Federation of Cattle Raisers Associations of the Philippines (FCRAP) and the Department of Agriculture- Livestock Development Council organized the National Beef Congress which was held April 5 – 7, 2002 at Grand Caprice, LKKS, Cagayan de Oro City. The 2002 Beefcon focused on:

Network MIS on Capability Assessment Four institutions: Isabela State University, Echague, Isabela; Camarines Sur State Agricultural College, Pili, Camarines Sur; Central Mindanao University, Musuan, Bukidnon; University of Southeastern Philippines, Apokon, Tagum, Davao were identified as possible regional lead in animal science research. These institutions submitted a comprehensive profile of their research and faculty staff doing research in animal science and a list of completed and on-going projects. The Network is scheduling an institutional visit soon. |
