  1. Improve genetic potential of animals suited for local production systems.
  2. Maintain biodiversity of animals through the conservation and efficient utilization of native/indigenous animals.
  3. Develop cost efficient and environment friendly production and post-production technologies.
  4. Develop strategic and sustainable animal health programs including production of vaccines, biologics and diagnostics/testkits
  5. Undertake supportive policy studies and adopt pro-active advocacy strategies to support livestock and poultry industries.
  6. Establish efficient system of marketing and distribution through farmers’ associations, cooperatives and corporate livestock and poultry agri-ventures. 
  7. Promote efficient information, education and communication strategies.
