Products and Services

Laguna is well known for its various products: buko pies from Los Baņos; fruit candies from Rizal, Liliw and Nagcarlan; cutflowers and ornamentals from Los Baņos, Calamba and San Pedro; wood carvings from Paete and Pakil; handicrafts in Cabuyao and Sta. Cruz; and footwear from Biņan, Sta. Rosa and Liliw.

Abundant with raw materials such as coconut, bamboo and pandan leaves, residents of the province utilize these for handweaving.

The 900,000-hectare Laguna de Bay supplies most of the fishing needs for the 17 municipalities of Laguna. The shallow lake has a production potential of 410,000 metric tons of fish. There are three government-operated freshwater fish farms in Laguna: the Fresh Water Fish Farm, Bay Demonstration Fish Farm, and the Sta. Cruz Fingerlings. The provincial government, along with the Development Academy of Laguna, has organized cooperatives in order to train fishermen in using new methods of marketing their produce.

The Laguna de Bay area is also the source and service support for about 1,000 industrial activities.
